Together, we create life-changing wishes for children with critical illnesses.
Who We Are
Founded in 1996, Make-A-Wish® Southern Nevada has granted over 1,900 wishes to children in Clark, Esmeralda, Lincoln and Nye counties. Additionally, each year the chapter hosts nearly 40 children from other states and countries who wish to visit Las Vegas or meet celebrities performing in Las Vegas. That means our chapter is involved in granting a wish nearly every other day, and we do it with a small and committed staff as well as the collective strength of over 400 volunteers to fulfill our mission. Our volunteers participate in all facets of our operations including fundraising, office support, special events, community relations, wish granting and governance. Make-A-Wish Southern Nevada is part of Make-A-Wish® America, whose network of chapters has granted more than 300,000 wishes since 1980. Today, a wish is granted every 34 minutes in the U.S.
In fiscal year 2018, Make-A-Wish Southern Nevada granted 144 wishes in our community and assisted with executing another 31 wishes for children from other areas of the country who come to Las Vegas to have their wishes granted. That’s 175 wishes in Southern Nevada alone – one wish almost every other days!
Why Wishes Matter
Research shows children who have wishes granted build the physical and emotional strength needed to fight a critical illness. This may improve their quality of life and produce better health outcomes.
