“ Make-A-Wish gave me hope for the future ”

- Caden

Over the years, Caden’s passion for sports grew. As a varsity soccer athlete, Caden developed the determination necessary to win on the field.

In April of 2014, his perseverance in soccer served as a helpful skill as the news of his life-changing diagnosis introduced a new obstacle to overcome. “I had never experienced anything as challenging in my life; it was a tough trial for me.”

The next year of Caden’s life proved strenuous as treatments became increasingly difficult. Although only seventeen, he wisely understood that this journey affected more than simply himself. His parents and three siblings clung to one another in support of their son and brother. With his family in mind, Caden determined his one true wish. “I realized that not only did I go through cancer, but my family did also. So, I decided to wish for something we could all enjoy, a cruise to take us away to white, sandy beaches!”

With their suitcases packed and a limo waiting outside of their home, Caden and his family departed for the cruise of a lifetime. Laughter and smiles filled their faces as they lounged on the picturesque beaches, explored the lush mountains, and enjoyed the delicious Caribbean cuisine. When reflecting on his experience, Caden stated, “Make-A-Wish gave me something to hold onto through the long and painful hours in a hospital bed. They gave me something more than just a wish; they gave me hope for something better in the future.”
