Following her diagnosis, Mischa's family rallied to keep her company during long stays in the hospital and grueling chemotherapy sessions. Mischa adores being around her family, so their commitment to her recovery played a huge role in her emotional and physical well being. (You might recognize Mischa as a 2017 Walk for Wishes ambassador -- her jump on the Sunset Bridge definitely captured the spirit of the day!)
When Mischa met with John and Shaun, her Wish Granters, her usually shy demeanor lit up when she spoke of her one true wish: to go to Paris. Ever since she saw Paris on TV, she knew it was her dream to experience the City of Love. Her favorite uncle works in Paris as a photographer, and Mischa also shared that she would like her uncle to "take pretty pictures" of her while she visits him.
With help from our amazing wish sponsor, Aristocrat Technologies and Make-A-Wish Southern Nevada board member Jodie Sacco, Mischa’s Paris wish became a reality in June as she and her family traveled to her dream destination. Together, they took in the sites and sounds of the beautiful city.
"My favorite part of the wish was the fat bike tour around Paris,” an exuberant Mischa said. “I never got to ride a bike on the city streets like that. It was so fun! I saw the Louvre museum, the Eiffel Tower and other cool places too. So awesome!"
Even Mischa’s parents noticed a huge difference in her demeanor while they were abroad.
“Mischa was full of joy and energy. She could not stop tumbling around, doing her cartwheels everywhere we stopped,” they said. “Our favorite part of the wish was walking hand-in hand together almost every day along the Seine river, feeling the peacefulness and seeing little Mischa's joy.“
Mischa and her family are just one example of the many lives touched by Make-A-Wish and everyone that supports it.
“We sincerely thank the Make-A-Wish staff, sponsors, as well as all the volunteers,” said Mischa’s parents. “Seeing the joy in our daughter's eyes, the endless energy, and hearing the mesmerized wows while she ran from shop to shop in the marketplace was priceless. You made Mischa's wish come true, you helped us remember to "live" again, and you brought us closer together as a family, after what seemed to be a battle that shattered all of our lives. We are forever thankful.”
