Together, we create life-changing wishes for children with critical illnesses.
Who We Are
Founded in 1996, Make-A-Wish® Southern Nevada has granted more than 2,000 wishes to children in Clark, Esmeralda, Lincoln and Nye counties. Additionally, each year the chapter hosts nearly 30 children from other states and countries who wish to visit Las Vegas or meet celebrities performing in Las Vegas. That means our chapter is involved in granting a wish nearly every other day, and we do it with a small and committed staff as well as the collective strength of over 500 volunteers to fulfill our mission. Our volunteers participate in all facets of our operations including fundraising, office support, special events, community relations, wish granting and governance. Make-A-Wish Southern Nevada is part of Make-A-Wish® America, whose network of chapters has granted more than 330,000 wishes since 1980. Today, a wish is granted every 33 minutes in the U.S.
In fiscal year 2019, Make-A-Wish Southern Nevada granted 158 wishes in our community and assisted with executing another 28 wishes for children from other areas of the country who come to Las Vegas to have their wishes granted. That’s 186 wishes in Southern Nevada alone – one wish every other day!
Why Wishes Matter
Research shows children who have wishes granted build the physical and emotional strength needed to fight a critical illness. This may improve their quality of life and produce better health outcomes.
