"Aaron has been an asset to our organization since his very first day of volunteer orientation. After orientation was complete, he made a point to introduce himself, sharing his enthusiasm for our mission, and overflowing with ideas that would spread the joy of Make-A-Wish with his fellow peers," - Devynn Mills, Senior Wish Support Specialist

Why do you choose to volunteer at Make-A-Wish?

I choose to volunteer at Make-A-Wish because it is one of the most incredible organizations in the world. Make-A-Wish gives children and families all around the world the experience of a lifetime, and I am lucky to be a part of it. The wonderful volunteers, staff members, and wish families make volunteering with this organization something to look forward to every week.

How did you first get involved with Make-A-Wish?

I first got involved with Make-A-Wish by attending some community events. From there, I applied to become a volunteer and attended multiple trainings and orientations.

What experience do you most look forward to?

I look forward to working directly with medical professionals here in Southern Nevada to increase the number of children and families that can be a part of this amazing organization.

What do you wish other people knew about Make-A-Wish?

I wish other people knew how easy it is to get involved with Make-A-Wish. It is truly an incredible experience and more people should look into it!

What do you do when you aren’t volunteering?

When I am not volunteering, I spend most of my time on campus (UNLV). I am a full-time student majoring in biological sciences and minoring in psychology, neuroscience, and economics. I also conduct medical research under Dr. Edwin Oh with the UNLV School of Medicine where I study neurogenetics and precision medicine with the goals of helping children not only here in Southern Nevada but, potentially, all around the world.

If you could say one word about your experience with MAW, what would it be? Why?

If I could say one word about my experience with Make-A-Wish I would say enriching because being able to work with this group of amazing people teaches me a lot and brings great value to my life.

Since Aaron's time here at Make-A-Wish Southern Nevada, he has helped introduce our organization to a new specialist in town who treats potentially eligible children - a physician practicing at a facility we may not have built a connection to, if not for Aaron.

Make-A-Wish Southern Nevada® relies on dedicated volunteers, like Aaron, to help grant the wishes of children battling critical illnesses in our community. Click here to learn more about our many volunteer opportunities and to sign-up for our next Volunteer Orientation.
