How did you first get involved with Make-A-Wish?
My Granddaughter Cosette was a wish kid. I was able to go with her on her wish to Walt Disney World® and Give Kids the World Resort. It was a wonderful experience, and Give Kids the World was an amazing place. This wish made a difference to my granddaughter because it gave her something different, a reprieve from her daily routine, of all the things she has to do on a daily basis to be healthy.
I like to give back to MAW because I know first hand what a difference a wish can make, and, it is rewarding to interact with the children, families, and staff as they come into The Wishing Place.
What experience or wish has been most impactful for you?
While on my Granddaughter’s wish, seeing all the children at Give Kids the World. Despite their variety of health conditions, they all wore smiles and were happy.
What do you wish other people knew about Make-A-Wish?
I wish they knew how many ways that there are to volunteer at MAW. Volunteers can do everything from office help to wish granting. There are so many opportunities to give back and be a part of this organization.
What do you do when you aren’t volunteering?
I am a retired Grandmother of 5 grandchildren. That keeps me very busy. I like to always be on the go, so I volunteer at MAW as well as another organization.
If you could say one word about your experience with MAW, what would it be? Why?
Magical! Each wish is unique yet magical in the every wish kid's eyes.
