A typical teenage who did not let her illness stop her from her dream of college aspirations.
Joana is just like any 17-year-old girl. She loves listening to music, watching Say Yes to the Dress, and had hopes and dreams of attending to college. What makes Joana special is that she has been diagnosed with renal failure, commonly known as kidney failure. Nonetheless, she does not let her disease limit her possibilities. With her desire to go to college, Joana told her wish granters of her wish to attend San Joaquin Delta College in Stockton, California.
Joana was overjoyed when she learned her wish was going to come true! She excitedly prepared to leave her family home and start her college career. Before leaving for college, Joana was sent with a package filled with many goodies. The goody package included pens, pencils, a tote bag, an iTunes, Starbucks and Subway gift cards to help her as a first time college student. Joana informed her wish granters that she was enjoying college life. She also received exciting news that she was accepted in to the University of Pacific, one of the top 100 universities in the nation!
Joana is beyond thankful and even wrote Make-A-Wish® an e-mail expressing her gratitude. She is excited for her future and cannot wait to see where her studies take her.
