A birthday spent at the Daytona 500 was the biggest thrill possible for this NASCAR fan. Seeing his favorite driver winner was the icing on the cake.
Keaton is a loving 17-year-old who is an avid NASCAR fan. Born with cerebral palsy with severe seizure disorder, Keaton is non-verbal and wheelchair bound. His disability does not prevent him from following his favorite sport of NASCAR, and his favorite driver Jeff Burton. When wish granters met with Keaton and his parents, there was no denying Keaton would wish for something NASCAR-related. They soon discovered the Daytona 500 would be held on Keaton’s 17th birthday. Wish Granters did not know if they could make the wish happen in time, but after some hard work, Keaton was overjoyed to find out he would be seeing the biggest NASCAR race of the year in person, and on his birthday!
After a few months of waiting, Keaton and his family were excited to be on their way to Daytona, Florida. They stayed in a wonderful hotel right on Daytona Beach, and had tickets to every preliminary and qualifying race. Finally, the big day for Keaton arrived. He celebrated his birthday going down to the track in Daytona, meeting legendary racer Richard Petty and viewing the race from the front row of the stands. His favorite driver Jeff Burton even won the race! It was a magical day for Keaton, according to his parents.
Keaton loves looking back at pictures from his wish, as they bring a smile to his face every time. His parents are marveled at just how perfect Keaton’s wish was, and are extremely appreciative to Make-A-Wish® for enabling their family to have such an amazing experience together. They created memories that will last a lifetime.
