With the help of his favorite gospel producer and encouragment from his favorite singer, AJ was able to share his talent and make a gospel CD.
Sixteen-year-old Anthony (“AJ”), who battles sickle cell anemia, is a vivacious young man with sparkling brown eyes and an angelic voice. He loves music of all kinds from R&B to classical, but he especially adores gospel music. When he discovered that his one true wish would be granted, it presented the once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to record a CD with famed gospel producer Steve Ford.
When the day arrived for AJ’s wish adventure to begin, he and his parent flew to Delaware to visit Steve in his own studio. He made AJ feel like a major recording star the minute he set foot in the building. He gave AJ great pointers while they worked on the vocal recording together, and gave the wish family a tour. Steve even had a surprise for him…CeCe Winans, the gospel star, called into the studio while AJ worked on a song called “Alabaster Box” that she had originally sung. AJ was so excited to hear from her, and she promised to reserve tickets for him and his family the next time she performs in Las Vegas. Steve and AJ spent over six hours together working hard to record and remaster his lead vocals. As the wish family departed after their long and wonderful day, Steve made a point to share with them how genuinely honored and privileged he felt to have made AJ’s wish come true.
